Commercial snow melt and ice melt systems

Businesses all over Long Island are opting for radiant floor heating.  Here's why:

Employees need a safe work environment to remain productive, as it affects the efficiency of your operations. Safety in the workplace environment, whether industrial or commercial, also reflects how much a business cares about the wellbeing of its employees and customers. With radiant heating systems, you do not have to worry about salt that will damage parking lots, flooring or carpets. You will have a more inviting & appealing entrance way for your employees and customers in your place of business.

Why your business needs a commercial ice melt and snow melt system

A commercial radiant heating system means less slip & falls, less maintenance for hiring outside plow or snow/ice melt, or downtime in closing your business. It's a win-win situation.

Given the blistering cold winter months in Long Island, many responsible business owners have taken note of the health and safety rights of their employees. As a result, many opt for commercial radiant heating systems to combat the cold spells for a better workplace.

Industrial and Commercial Radiant Heating Systems

Both industrial and commercial heating systems are different than residential heating systems because they normally cover a larger area. Additionally, they require more control measures and are much more complicated heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (HVAC).

Commercial Heating Systems

Commercial settings like offices, warehouses, hotels, and shopping complexes comprise of multiple rooms and large halls where heat is more localized. The internal passageways and corridors add to the complexity of designing a commercial heating system such that heat is spread uniformly throughout a building. Therefore, many commercial heating systems consist of a centrally located heat generation source. Heat energy is supplied via a medium through a network of ducts or pipes wherever needed. Let’s look at some types of commercial heating systems.

Hydronic Snow Melt System Design

Radiant heating systems are closed heating systems that can be implemented in various ways. The principle of working relies on convection and conduction. Heat transfer occurs when heat is carried via these systems and creates convection currents in the building.

Radiant floor heating involves the use of heating elements or piping networks underneath the sub-floor of your facility. The piping network carries a water-based medium in a loop consisting of pumps and a heating source to carry heat energy, whereas heating elements convert electricity to heat energy directly. Heating elements offer more control and efficiency, but both systems are efficient and are more suitable for installations.

Radiant panels are another form of heat transfer via infrared waves emanating from a metal panel with a large surface area. Heat energy is supplied to them via the same means as above; however, they depend on heat transfer via infrared radiation – a harmless form of energy conveyance. They have the added advantage of control and maintainability.
